Hi there, I was wondering if anyone knows of a how-to to get the side mirror covers off , maybe showing where to pry without breaking any clips or whatever . Would like to paint our mirror covers ( or get chrome ones ), but figure it would be easier to take them off as opposed to masking up half the car to spray them while they're on . Any info anyone may have will be very much appreciated . Thanks, Larry

I understand that there are chrome covers available , but, what I want to know is how to take the original mirror covers off ( short of a baseball bat or crowbar ) without breaking any clips in order to paint them and then reinstall them. I know I've seen a diagram somewhere , just can't remember where.

"Borrowed" from another site, but should be what you are looking for.

1.) Tilt the mirror all the way up/down or sideways in order to get to each of the attaching clips. The clips are behind the glass and are integral to the caps.
2.) Locate the clips with a flashlight.
3.) Use a screwdriver to gently press the clips out of their retaining slots. (don't break the mirror glass!)

Just one of the many reasons I like this site so much. As far as pics go, I'll try. I'm probably the biggest moron you've seen when it comes to computers. I read the how to's, follow along, and seem to get lost pretty fast. And yet a repair manual for cars ( which I don;t often use ) seems to come pretty easy. Oh well , we'll see. Thanks again for the help.
