| Announcement: Car shuts off after hitting bump, and arm rest cracked. |

Although I have been very happy with my 06 HHR, I have a few annoying problems. Minor one-a week after the 3 year warranty ended, the drivers side arm rest developed a crack down the middle of it. I went back to the dealer and he said he would see what he could do and call me, but I never heard from him.
Next, the engine will occassionally turn off if I hit a speed bump or pot hole. I assume it is a safety feature that shuts down the fuel pump in the event of an accident, but it is too sensitive for NYC streets.
Also, I still have the problem with the traction control turning off if I step on the gas pedal too aggressively. I have changed the MAP and MAF sensors, switched to a non-oiled filter, had my computer reset back to stock and still the problem persists. I no longer have my factory air cleaner to try, but I really like the CGS so would not want to put it back anyway.
Finally, the front brakes continue to be a problem. I had the factory rotors cut twice before switching to EBC rotors and pads. They were great for 1500 miles then began vibrating worse than the stock ones ever did. I replaced those with R1 Concept which have been great until a month ago, and are beginning to vibrate a little bit. It is apparant that there is something wrong with the front end of the HHR and Cobalt that causes the rotors to warp and vibrate.
That aside, the car has been a great family vehicle. I do wonder why the 06 has gotten such horrible reviews by Consumers Reports in comparision to the 07 and 08 when they are mechanically pretty identical.
