Lee you could try and use the ground at the right side of the batt. On the black bracket. It is where the ground wire gose from the batt. Thats where I have mine and it works good. No feed back noise there.

Thanks Black. I will give it a try tomorrow

That vent is always closed, dont count on it for ciruclation. What that vent does is when you shut the door it vents out the cabin preasure created by slamming the door, there are small rubber flaps that open to release the pressure then flop back down to re seal the cabin. When my bumper was off to have the rear end fixed my firsts time, the body shop showed me the process, then they taped over the vent so that no air would escape, it makes a big difference especialy on the back doors, they are hard to close w/ out he vent. also if you slam 2 doors @ the same time it will bust the tape off, the air has to go somewhere. The reason that they close back up is to keep water out of the cabin.

I redid the ground for the amp with no success. Then I disconnected the fuse to the amp and still got the noise. Aparantly it is coming from the head unit. The only ground I used was the thin wire from the factory harness. I will connect the head to the chassis and see if it helps.

i cant get rid of it totally either i just turned the amps down to about 45% and that got rid of most. still hear it on talk show radio stations, music ones arent so bad.

i cant get rid of it totally either i just turned the amps down to about 45% and that got rid of most. still hear it on talk show radio stations, music ones arent so bad. Same hum here with the stock head unit. I'm hoping an aftermarket radio will fix it in the near future. :lis:

CJ, that is not what I want to hear. I would prefer it if you told me that it would be simple to eliminate

only thing that will fix it is new h/u and dont use the stock amp in the back. that is why i am not using the onstar anymore now. wish i could tell you something different but ive lived w it for a while now.

try disconnecting you amp and see if you still get the wine, if you dont then it has nothing to do with the head unit, most likely the proublem is that the factory amp and your carver are both grounded in different spot, you want to run one common ground, another solution is you want to make sure that your ground cable is as big as your power cable and you want to keep your ground as short as possible. Hope this helps. It also could be picking up noise from where the wires are spliced together black tape isnt the best thing to use, you are ahead to solder and use heat shrink

getting rid of the old amp and putting in all new lines totally got rid of the whine sound is crystal clear in all doors and tweeters and bass is solid w no problems at all

The part number for the non-amp onstar adapter is GMOS-Lan-03. Price is aprox 169.95 retail, can get it cheaper. Mine fit the pocket behind the pocket on the single din adapter. I installed a JVC KD-HDR1 head unit with a single Cerwin Vega 300W RMS mono amp to drive 1 12" infinity perfict kapa sub in a 1.65 cuft ported enclosure. Will post pics tonight. Oh I replaced my door speakers with Infinity 63.7i 3way and left the stock tweets.

I am using a Pioneer head, separate amps, etc. I used the Metra adapter so I could keep my OnStar, turn signals, etc. And I do not have any whine. The only problem is that even with the Metra, you need to add a relay for the turn signal click, and an additional speaker for the OnStar/phone. For the price, I believe the adapter should include these items. Also, if you want to be able to control your speaker volume, you need to add a momentary switch. You have only a few volume levels, changed by tapping the switch which actually grounds a wire to control the sound level. But, I keep it at it's loudest. For mounting the speaker, I just shoved it under the steering colum on top of the plastic cover that is over your legs. It does not rattle and is in a good position to hear it.
