Did mine today and worked out great. I even removed the whole old harness intact, just in case I had to put everything back the way it was. The only thing I had to change on the new harness, was the cruise wires. Still very easy. Here's before and after pics. http://www.flickr.com/photos/70gmcer/2352918440/in/photostream/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/70gmcer/2352918468/in/photostream/

This may be covered at other places; if so my apologies. To get radio controls, I replace the whole wheel with a leather one from Ebay that had the controls on it already. The previous owner of my HHR had put on handicap controls and in doing so carved up the steering wheel. I wanted to replace it anyway, so here was my chance to kill two birds with one stone. My particular wheel was originally on a 2007 Cobalt and I put it on a 2008 HHR. Plug and play. Works great! Have seen them on Ebay anywhere from 75 -100 shipped. Happy Hunting!

I am soooo tempted to try this on my 09 LS, but I am not sure if the 08 cable assembly is the same. I also noticed it has a button for what appears to be a phone. This is where they are adding bluetooth in the 09s. I am wondering if this would add bluetooth since this is an option on some 09 models, or if it would require some additional equipment. Any thoughts/help on this?

That button you see is the mute button. Did this on my 2007 and worked great .

That button you see is the mute button. Did this on my 2007 and worked great . I see. I thought I read in the owners manual this was for bluetooth. Maybe they are using a different set of covers? I will have to check my owners manual and post. Thanks for the info!

I just checked my owners manual. The button has 2 uses. The first is like everyone has said, it mutes the radio. However, if you press and hold it, it will either activate the onstar phone system or bluetooth if installed. Now I wonder if the bluetooth option is hardware or just a software change. Any techs out there? Thanks!

Thanks for the updates with this. Looks like a summer job on NC is coming. I know I'll be back asking a whole bunch of questions...well, some. Looks like you guys and ladies have most if not all covered.
