Steering Intermediate Shaft Lube Kit.
The GM part # for the Lube Kit is 26098237. This kit does come with instructions on how to lube the shaft once you have it out, following is the procedure to remove the shaft.
1. Secure the steering wheel to prevent rotation, not securing the wheel could result in damage to the clock spring. once the wheel is secure. remove the left front tire/wheel assembly.
2. Place scribe marks in the intermediate shaft, at both the rack, and the column end, remove the intermediate shaft bolt at the rack.
3. Disconnect the intermediate shaft from the rack & pinion, remove the intermediate shaft bolt at the steering column, separate the intermediate shaft form the steering column.
4. After disconnecting these components, do not move the front tires, or missalignment of the components or damage to the clock spring could result.
5. Unseat the intermediate steering shaft seal from the firewall, and remove the assembly from the vehicle.
6. Reverse the procedure to install, remember the scribe marks! the lube kit does come with instructions , for when you have the shaft out.
7. Tighten the shaft bolts to 25 ft lbs, and a little "Lock Tight" does'nt hurt.
Hope this helps, "remember the scribe marks and secure the steering wheel".. Good Luck
