Steering Column locked
As some of you know I work at Avis car rentals and deal with HHRs every now and then. This moring some customers came that have an HHR and the column is locked. Nothing we do is changing this, it has power as far as I can tell. We just cant get this thing to start for nothing. So since we have to wait 3 and half 4 hours for a tow truck from Salt Lake City I figured I would ask and see if any one had any ideas?

I've had mine lock before and just had to turn the steering wheel just a tad and turn the key and it came unlocked. Another thing to check is to make sure it's fully engaged in the park position too. Heard of that being an issue before as well.

Thats was my first thought that the custom just didnt know about the steering lock(that happens more often than you would think) but I tried that and made sure it was in park and just couldnt get it to turn. Any other suggestions? The tow truck is now not coming till monday so we have a while to figure this one out.

sometimes you need to rock the HHR a little and have someone in the HHR and gently nudge the and hold the stick forward in park and while they are rocking it, try to turn the wheel left and right to get it to unlock. i just wiggle in the car to rock it. Has worked the few times i needed it. its more of a trying to turn the steering wheel left and right while u push the stick forward and rock the HHR. Happens mostly on hills or slight hills is worse.

Not sure but I think I read something about this in the manual. Look in there. I would but my car isnt here at the time. good luck eli!
