Startup Issues
Good morning family members...I have been having a couple weird things happen at startup and have decided to ask for some help. Please let me know how I can take care of these. I used to know a guy who could help me with this sort of thing, but I lost contact, so I am now on my own. They don't affect how the computer runs, they are just seriously annoying at startup. These problems are on my laptop which is an HP ze4325us that runs Windows XP Home. First problem is related to the dreaded MyWebSearch that dowloads itself along with other things. I have removed the program itself, but have an orphan or something that is still hanging around annoying the life out of me. Here's what the little popup says that I see at startup every time I reboot the computer. Error loading C:\PROGRAM\MYWEBS~1\bar\1bin\MWSBAR.DLL Specified module could not be found The other problem is a Found New Hardware issue. This pops up every time I start the computer. I do not have any hardware on here that has not been installed. I believe this problem surfaced when I removed the program for the last digital camera I had installed on here. I would presume it too is an orphan file that is making this pop up on restart. Neither of these problems is causing any problem with the way the computer runs and I can exit out of them, but like I said, they are just plain annoying. Therefore, I am searching the family and asking all the computer gurus to step forward and be counted. Can you please help Mother HHR from ending up in the funy farm? Thank you for your assistance. Henry also thanks you because he won't have to listen to me snivel every time I reboot the computer.

Deb, I'm not guru for sure. But I believe that both of those problems are probably related to your registry. I have a very similiar computer, HP dv4000, and a very similiar problem with one of those instant loading programs that I've since deleted, but it comes up at startup. I'm not near sauvy enuf or comfy enuf to go in and edit my registry. But I did find out that is what has to be done to eliminate my startup issue. I have a friend near by that is a tech, I just haven't had time to take the laptop to him to make the changes for me. There may be someone here that can walk both of us through our issues...... CBL

go into your windows explorer and click on use the link you had to find your dll that is giving you a problem C:\PROGRAM\MYWEBS~1\bar\1bin\MWSBAR.DLL my computer then C: then program mywebs~1 bar 1bin and when you click on this there will probably be a bunch of dll's. find the mwsbar.dll and right click it, then click delete if it wont let you delete it, the try to rename it or move it to a folder and then delete it this should fix your problem

I tried what you said and the MyWebs folder does not exist on my computer and neither does the dll file, which is what is causing the problem and why I am getting the error. I am thinking that when I uninstalled the MyWebSearch program, that it left pieces and parts in other portions of my computer. I will continue to try and hunt down a solution for this unless someone else comes up with something else. Thanks for the info...it was worth a try.

another quick fix option is to do a system restore to the day before it started happening

Cowboy is right, you need to delete it from your reg., then restart your pc. that should solve your issue. In my exp. I would NOT do the restore until you have tried deleting from your reg. which could be dangerous....if ya dont know what you are doing, but you access it through RUN and type regedit..and from there you will have to find the program.....good luck!

if you click start then run then type in regedit it will take u there then make sure my computer is highlihted and then click F3 type in the name of the DLL and it will find it make sure it is the right one you can also type mwsbar and it will find all occurences of it be sure you go to the right side and find the exact name you want to delete and then highlight it and then hit delete and then enter F3 it again till u find another and keep doing it over and over till it quits then close it

http://ask-leo.com/mwsbardll_what_is_it_and_why_is_it_generating_an_error.html is also a good walk through on getting rid of the error. On the hardware, does it say what its finding?

Ok folks...thanks for all the input. I talked to Gambler on IM and he got me hooked up. For the dll problem, I went to start>run>regedit>ok searched for the mwsbar and two things popped up. Deleted them, rebooted computer and all is well. Thank you gambler...and those who also said same or similar thing before I got back here. :D The other problem appears to be solved as well. Went through my computer and disabled devices that weren't working and everything appears to be ok. Thanks again...I can see this board and the people on this forum will be quite helpful when needed. Special thanks to CJ who called me twice on the phone to help as well. You da man CJ. :D
