Nice to see us lil ole LS HHRer's get a spark going w u 2.4er's... Thanks to Pat for really getting this going. I love the pick up w our plugs in our 2.2's and i can tell you I also love this Purigen in the tires. Both easy nice mods.

BTW: Here is the data we came up with on performance with the two different plugs: AC Delco Plugs (stock) 0-60 = 9.60sec 1/4-mile = 17.22 Autolite APP 5263 Plugs 0-60 = 8.80sec 1/4-mile = 16.69 WOW....that's a huge difference just for changing the plugs, I had no idea ther was that much more power in a set of plugs. So what do we need to do to get a similar -*test*-('") on the 2.2?

CJ N Shagy- 09-23-2006

would be nice who knows,,, we dont what Mike has on his dash

John- 09-23-2006

..................My "old" stock plugs had only 9k miles on them, and before someone says "hey, it's just the new plugs" - know that we -*test*-('")ed the Bosch Platinum 4 plugs also and the car ran slower than the stock AC Delco plugs. These Autolite's are definitely a worthwhile upgrade for the HHR owner wanting max performance from their ride. Hope it helps, Mike did you forget what forum you posted this on. We think about what has been posted by each member and then we compose a well thought out and rational response, even if we do think it was the new plugs. Thanks a lot for the information, I appreciate that you always answer my questions and I usually have many. Hey CJ and Songman Look what I got from my 2.4L vender, not only a recommendation for different plugs but an actual comparison.

No problem John! 8) BTW: Some AUtolite facts: Autolite is the "official spark plug" of NASCAR - and, more NHRA record holders have run Autolite plugs than any other brand. If it's good enough for a 7,000hp Top Fuel Dragster - it should work well on my 2.4L! :D Hey! I have a hundred bucks says my 2.4L will take on any 2.2L HHR on this board!

No problem John! 8) Hey! I have a hundred bucks says my 2.4L will take on any 2.2L HHR on this board! Hey I'll put another hundred on Mike's 2.4 but it needs to be a neutral site. not one of CJ's home roads.

SoCalHHR- 09-23-2006

I'm down for CJ's run - I used to live in North Dallas, not far from there. I've been on that road on a bike - it would be a blast in HHR1. CJ, - you're just lucky Texas is a BIG state...(you're safe for now!) :D

Hey! I have a hundred bucks says my 2.4L will take on any 2.2L HHR on this board! Let's be sure to get some video of this challenge.

SMOKE- 09-23-2006

I would love to see that challenge. I think CJ is probably the only one of us here with a 2.2L that might be able to take on Mike. Better be careful what you ask for SoCal...CJ is nuts... I'll stand by and be the cheerleader, OK?

CJ N Shagy- 09-23-2006

you should fly w me 6 inches off the ground at 130 mph,,,, fun missing tree limbs and electric lines and telephone lines oh wait,,, i did hit a few,,,, :rof:

SoCalHHR- 09-23-2006

I've been tagged a little bit crazy too: 1979 Yamaha XS1100 = 127mph 1999 Suzuki 750 = 167mph 2000 Yamaha R1 = 180mph. 2006 HHR = unclocked!

CowboyBornLate- 09-24-2006

Y'all are funny!! I would buy tickets to THAT race!!! CBL

Lee3333- 09-26-2006

Back to original topic--- Just put the Autolite plugs in, and what an incredible difference. Yes, the car even sounds more aggressive. My son really noticed the difference too.

Lee3333- 09-26-2006

Mike is the Guru on the 2.4's his biggest problem is he just doesnt have a ton of time after i drove both, did extensive reading and talking to guys at car shows that were muscle hounds on both engines all i read is that the 2.2 would be more performance modifiable. all the muscle car guys love the 2.0 and 2.2 Ecotech I think that is only because the variable valve timing creates more of a challange to modify. But, once they start playing with the 2.4 the parts will start to show up. And since it is starting with more HP to begin with, there is obviously more potential. So, 2.4 owners, just be patient

Lee3333 That's great. I stopped by NAPA to pick mine up today but they have to get them from their warehouse. They will be in tomorrow and I hope to put them in on Thursday for our weekend trip to the beach. I can't wait. I am glad to see there are some more 2.4L people around. Sorry for all of the nonsense earlier, it was mostly my fault. Thanks for letting me know that you put them in.
