sold to gillet
i found this in the local news paper: The Gazette (Montreal) 2007 Racing is in my blood," Gillett said yesterday. "It's not often you get to partner with a leader with Ray's reputation, talent and championship legacy." "It's very exciting for me to deliver to sponsors and fans the opportunity to align with a worldwide sports leader," said Ray Evernham, who will retain his title as team CEO. "With the business acumen of the Gillett family and its sports brands, we've greatly expanded our reach." In June, Gillett told The Gazette's Dave Stubbs that he expected the deal would be completed by the time the inaugural Busch Series NAPA Auto Parts 200 came to Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. As it turns out, the deal was completed two days after the Montreal race. The Evernham car that competed at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on the weekend, driven by California's Boris Said, had Canadiens logo decals on both sides of the car. Said finished 28th in the field of 43 after his Dodge suffered engine failure on the 66th of 75 laps. Last winter, Gillett brought NASCAR's "King," seven-time champion Richard Petty, to Montreal for a Canadiens game. Petty Enterprises is an engine and technology customer of Evernham and the two men talked business that night at the Bell Centre. An intermediary introduced Gillett to Evernham, who won three championships as crew chief for Jeff Gordon. But as an owner, his team has bogged down in recent seasons. Evernham complained this spring that he would need 50 more employees to compete with resourceful megateams such as Hendrick Motorsports. Negotiations intensified five months ago and his immediate personal connection with Gillett may have signalled in what he called "the cavalry." "We've become friends. But again, it's a big business proposition, and it has to work good for everybody," Evernham said. "I want to win the Cup. I don't care if I have 100-per-cent or 1-per-cent (ownership). My goal when I started this thing was to win the Cup and I am going to do whatever it takes to do that."

I like Ray Evernham..he's got alot going on and has a ton of knowledge when it comes to NASCAR. I hope this works out well for both of them. Seems to be the way many of the teams are headed. NASCAR is big business and take alot of money to be competitive. Good luck to them.
