Silver door strips
Has anyone ever tried to safely pull this silver strip for painting or covering? I would appreciate any tips you have. This car came with all the bells and whistles but only cloth seats. I told my husband that is was a blessing because we have to do custom leather seats now. ;) I thought it would be cool if I could put matching leather on those silver strips. I'm off to the local leather shop today.

Not removing, but I did a pinstripe along the middle in the same color, as the outside to tie it all together..

it would be a ton easier to just pull the panel off the door and tape it off and paint it.

That strip does not remove by itself...it is part of the molded plastic door. You will have to get them to glue it onto that strip and tuck it in maybe by possibly cutting into it. I'm sure the shop will have some great ideas.

Thanks for the input. Sounds like it maybe more trouble than worth. I stopped by Chevy and ordered 2 cans of paint and I will just paint them to match the car. I will just have them pinstriped along with the rest of the car. The leather store was great. They have two full cow hides that match my car. Funny, the gentleman I talked to yesterday about doing the upolstry work said I would never find leather to match my car. But then he also told me naugahide was better than leather. I think I need to find someone else to do the work.
