Shimmy On Highway
I have less than 300 miles on my new HHR. This morning I was driving down the highway and noticed a shimmy in the steering wheel, a weird noise almost like the tire was going flat and then I heard a metal clunk noise. After exiting the highway and slowing down below 40 all of this went away but, over 50 it came back again. I think I may have lost a wheel balancing weight or something. I drove the car on the highway on Saturday morning and it was completely fine, it sat most of the day yesterday only took a local trip no more than 5 minutes from my house. I have not hit a curb and I have not hit any potholes at excessive speeds. Has anyone else had this issue? I am going to call the dealer today and set up an appointment but, I was just curious if anyone could give me a heads up. :(
I never had any thing like that happen. Not sure myself what it could be but going to dealer is not a bad idea..............
sounds like a wheel balancing problem to me as well and you may have slung a weight
Thanks guys. I am sure its not a huge problem because the car still rides fine at slower speeds. I am really enjoying Elvira, my HHR, and i am keeping my fingers crossed that the dealer can fix the issue in a short period of time.
Turned out to be that the front rotors were out of round from the factory and that apparently I drove over some tar which coated the wheels. The dealer took care of all this in about 2 hours. I am happy again
Glad to hear that Elviria turned out ok. Im glad you luv your HHR. I luv my Lil'Red
Awesome
GM rotors are not that great

THAT is the understatement of the day!!!
Well I had her up to 80 this morning on the NJ Turnpike with no hands on the wheel she was smoooth as glass again. I guess I will keep an eye on the rotors though.
Just love that Turnpike when it is empty..........should be cruising through there in late August for trip to NYC. Glad Elvira is back to normal.....
